Going EastHI Everyone,
We just returned from Bowling Green, KY, and the Western
KY Horse Sale held at the Western KY University Ag Expo Center. What an impact the KY Incentive program is having
on the horse business there. We visited with folks all across the region from AL,TX, TN, OH, and of course KY.
There were nearly 450 horses sold in the two days with prices ranging from $25,000 to no sales to the $500 horses. It
was by and large a Quarter Horse sale sprinkled with a few ponies, Appaloosas, Paints and grades with most being mares.
The understanding of the need to become better stwards of our hay is a firmly held belief by all. Being
creative and or looking for a better way to save their hay dollars, is something that dominated our conversations. Having
experienced drought in '07, the folks there had to have hay shipped in from out west. And, that hay came packaged
via the large square bale. This posed a challenge for most who had never fed the large square bale. They liked
the concept, yet had no way to feed it without that every challenging waste issue. With the option of The Big Bale Box, they can now consider the change to baling and feeding their hay.
They do suppliment their pastures so as to extend their life and The Big Bale Box
would fit perfectly into that management style.
While that far south, we took a little trip to Nashville, TN, for
Saturday evening supper. What an exciting piece of history, both past and current, bubble out from the city.
As we walked down Broadway Street listening to the live music coming from each pub, you could only wonder just how many tried
to make their mark in Country Music from those stages. The weather was perfect as The Crawfish Boil was being held
at the river front that evening with nearly 60,000+ people coming to the celebration.
Our trip to KY was excellent
as we start to introduce this unit east of the Mississippi River.
