Here at Triple D Paints we raise quality APHA horses. With that said, there was a challenge to eliminate the hay waste that occurred from feeding
our horses with the large round bales, either the grass or alfalfa. We also attempted to feed the large square
bales in the round hay feeders, but found that spoilage happened long before the hay was consumed. With the high
hay prices, we looked for another way to meet our needs. There was nothing in the market place to do that. This
left us frustrated and realizing the fact that if we wanted something different, we would have to make it ourselves.

It was now show and tell time. The bale box was placed in the
horse yard. After placing the bale inside, securing the strap, cutting the strings and closing the doors, we then opened up
the end doors. [One door for hay to move out of and one door on the side for the ratchet.] The total time
for this was no more than 10 minutes. Ratcheting the 1,400#+ bale forward, using the winch, took little effort and we
were able to peel off the desired amount of hay into the feeder placed on the end. The horses were then fed. Each
day thereafter, we simply opened the end doors and brought the bale forward peeling off the hay for feeding. The
hay remaining in the box was kept out of the weather conditions and not wasted. Thus, the birth of: "THE
BIG BALE BOX"
After starting the patent process the next step was to build a metal
prototype. With some changes, this too proved to be very functional. → This brings
us to today and we are very excited to offer THE BIG BALE BOX in
the open market for you. Reducing waste 20% - 30%, whether that be in a burn or manure pile, we
know the use of this product will indeed keep dollars in your pocket as well as your livestock with fresh hay. This
is our story and we know you will also benefit from using THE BIG BALE BOX.
With the days of cheap hay over, it's now time to feed all of your hay. You too can start saving right now
and retire that bale ring to the back side of the barn. Thanks for stopping by and check out the FAQ page or contact us with any further questions you may have.

So, in the winter of 2006-2007 Denny went to the drawing board. Noting
that the large square bales are becoming the standard in the haying industry, he knew that building a feeder of some
sort for them would truly benefit our small operation. He had an idea and purchased his materials. Knowing
that this would be a testing project, he choose to make his first prototype out of wood. [↓See picture
below ↓] With wood, he was able to make adjustments as he constructed the box. We discussed
the mechanical operation and construction with each step, and he made the changes where it seemed necessary.
After it was framed and enclosed, the excitement and anticipation of it's possible operation grew. ←
